The institute has been successfully
catering to various needs of the packaging machinery industry for both, the
machinery users and manufacturers.
The organisation provides consultancy by means of
IIP publishes journals, periodicals
and directories and holds exhibitions on the packaging industries.
The World Packaging Organization (Wpo)
The association was formed in 1987 and grew rapidly over the following
years. In 1989 it merged with the UK manufacturers association, PEMA.
Currently the PPMA has over 330 member companies who are responsible for the
majority of machines sold in the UK each year. The PPMA is a founder member
of the Confederation of Packaging Machinery Associations, the world's major
machinery manufacturing nations.
The Confederation provides a forum for discussion on matters of world-wide
concern to the industry, and recommends initiative where global perspective,
or action, is required. The PMMI in America are the current secretariat and
can be contacted through their web site.
