Semi
and fully automatic salt packaging machines are versatile in nature and are
widely used to package any kind of powder or granular type of material.
These machines efficiently perform bag forming, filling, sealing and cutting
process. Automatic Volumetric Packing Machines are also suitable for dosing
and packing small granular-floury products such as coffee, spices, dry
vegetables, snack, sugar, seeds, etc besides salt.
Packing Process
These machines transfer iodized salt to a feed hopper through a belt
conveyor. Predetermined quantities of salt from the hopper are pored into a
bag, which is then stitched by a stitching machine with a sewing head. The
bag moves on a horizontal chain and slat conveyor, which is synchronized
with the sewing head and a hand-operated knife and foot-switch control
arrangement. The sack is entered into the sewing head, which automatically
starts, sews, cuts the stitching thread and stops again ready for the next
sack.

Materials used for Salt Packaging
The salt-packing industry has switched over from conventional packing
materials made of straw or jute to use of airtight bags of either high
density polyethylene (HDPE), laminated/non laminated polypropylene (PP) or
LDPE-lined jute bags for highest standard of packing. These material
prevents loss of iodine from salt.
